You never know what's going to happen in a baseball game, but I knew one thing for sure before the Analy baseball team played Miramonte in the North Coast Section Division III semifinals on Tuesday in Orinda: No one was going to hit a home run over the center-field fence.

Good to see Sweeney back on the mound

One of the nice moments of the baseball season occurred Friday afternoon in the Cardinal Newman-Redwood Division II North Coast Section playoffs. Newman pitcher, senior Sean Sweeney, took the mound in relief of starter Jason Alexander to get the final out and preserve the Cardinals 4-3 win.

A softball game worth seeing

Softball as played in the North Coast Section is some of the best in the state and the nation.
Livermore of the East Bay League and Freedom of the Bay Valley Athletic League are nationally ranked. Our Montgomery team is state-ranked in Division II.
